High Five the Reaper

Looking at other countries like Japan or New Zealand the Americans have realised that they blew their chance to do something really meaningful regarding containment. The White House will phase out the coronavirus task force in favour of a new group focused on reopening the economy. Getting everyone back to work will mean normalising daily 9/11 equivalent death tolls.

In a 1980 column for Newsweek magazine Isaac Asimov wrote, ‘There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

If Donald Trump was the Prime Minister in a Westminster system he’d of been fired already. Instead America, and the world, is stuck with him until at least 2021, forced to live inside his mind, a pinball machine with broken flippers frantically swiping to stop the sphere from draining.

Trump cares about all victories, even the temporary and superficial. He’s as deep as dry land. Having never made a mistake that he did not blame on someone else his next move will be to blame everything on China. Or to just deny that any of it is even real.
